The Grinch

I have to admit – I was really skeptical coming in to this film.  Why mess with a classic?  In short I think they did a great job with this film.  Sure, the first half hour or so felt like any number of Seuss-based movies.  Unlike the Jim Carrey film of a similar name this film stuck to the human (?) side of the Grinch and made him into a real person.  In my opinion this set up the main objective of the original:  show a person that has lost his way and the value in showing empathy towards these people.  In this day and age where empathy is so hard to come by I felt they really captured the essence of the story.

From a technical perspective I love how they both stayed with the main story line but made it new.  Rather than simply remaking the famous scenes they instead gave more depth to the story and created new moments.
