Two friends hired to police a small town that is suffering under the rule of a rancher find their job complicated by the arrival of a young widow.
Watching this movie reminded me of a quote by Jeff Miers of the Buffalo News. Miers is the music reviewers for the News and he was reviewing the latest Coldplay CD. He said that Coldplay is a poor man’s U2. U2 knows how to not polish their CD’s too much and that is an art that Coldplay has not mastered. Appaloosa is written by Ed Harris and it has the feel of a script not written by a mainstream Hollywood screenwriter. The script had holes in it and at times the movie was rather deliberate but this added to its charm. I quite enjoyed it.
