Every year we watch a Christmas movie on Christmas Even. It’s key that the movie have some schlock but not too much schlock.
Guess Who is Coming to Christmas – Nick Lachey plays a jaded rock star.
Metropolitan – Indie movie from 1990, 90% on RT and 3.5 from Ebert. Backdrop is NYC young adults and Christmas.
The Apartment – Jack Lemon and Shirley McClain in a melancholy comedy.
The Thin Man – Comedy/Mystery from 1934. 97% on RT, 4/4 from Ebert.
Christmas Prince – This is probably a serious condidate for christmas eve if we’re looking for decent cheese.
Comfort and Joy – Quirky comedy set in Glasgow. 100% on limited reviews.
White Reindeer – Dark comedy with surprising heart set at Christmas. One review compared it to Bad Santa. 90% on RT.
Forever Christmas – A guy celebrates Christmas every day of the year.
A Christmas Tale – French movie set at christmas. We actually saw this one but I remember very little.
The Feast of Seven Fishes – An American family celebrates Christmas by honoring their Italian roots. 100% on RT.
Small Town Christmas – Author Nell Phillips’ first book has become a surprise best-seller of the Christmas season. Nell’s last stop on a nationwide book tour takes her to the town of Springdale, the hometown of Emmett Turner, a young man she met over five years ago . 71% on RT.
8 Women – Eight women in a snowy cabin for the holidays. Comedy/mystery/musical, stars famous french actresses. Over-the-top good time.
Pete’s Christmas – Family movie, safe for kids.
12 Days of Christmas – Childhood friends come home for xmas during their first year away at school.
