Overview
More interested in partying and flirting with young musicians than work, veteran rock journalist Ellie Klug has one last chance to prove her value to her magazine’s editor: a no-stone-unturned search to discover what really happened to long lost rock god, Matt Smith, who also happens to be her ex-boyfriend. Teaming up with an eccentric amateur documentary filmmaker, Ellie hits the road in search of answers.
On the plus side it was good to see two fine actors (Toni Collette and Thomas Hayden Church) together in a film. It’s a decent movie – the premise is that Collette’s character is trying to find herself in the present while being asked to write a difficult story about someone from her past. It’s not hard to see where the film is going to go and when it gets there the ending is satisfying enough. It was good to see Depp (albeit it briefly) in a dramatic role.
