A man and woman must face the tension that builds between them during a long-distance relationship.
I guess this movie can be looked at from different points of view. The movie was made by future movers and shakers in Hollywood (Gerwig and the other guy who went on to produce a lot of movies). Appearances are also made by Jay Duplass and Lynn Shelton – two future stars in their own right. For new movie makers, this is a fine movie. I watch a ton of indie movies and this one is middle-of-the-road. I saw some of the reviews and often saw the word “raw” and that it didn’t even feel like a movie. I agree with the latter and I don’t see that as a compliment. I would argue that it could have been more raw. At times it felt like they were just killing time. I don’t expect every scene to have fireworks but too many scenes were just empty.
