Overview
In the weekend after thanksgiving 1973 the Hood family is skidding out of control. Then an ice storm hits, the worst in a century.
This was a rather bleak drama about families hoping to find something in the face of an impending ice storm. The ice storm itself really isn’t that much of a topic in the movie. Instead, it adds to the already bleak backdrop that is pervasive throughout the movie. It very much reminds me of a more subtle version of American Beauty. In that film the characters and the story lines are a little more exaggerated. Above all the acting is superb.
