Overview

Dolores Claiborne was accused of killing her abusive husband twenty years ago, but the court's findings were inconclusive and she was allowed to walk free. Now she has been accused of killing her employer, Vera Donovan, and this time there is a witness who can place her at the scene of the crime. Things look bad for Dolores when her daughter Selena, a successful Manhattan magazine writer, returns to cover the story.

For the most part I really liked this movie.  Aside from the attempts at a Maine accent being a little distracting (John C Reilly was particularly uncomfortable) the acting was fantastic.  I also love how the story was told, although if you pay attention to the movie and think back to the opening scene you can probably see where it is all going.  The part I found a bit far-fetched were both the motivations and dialog of the sheriff.  We are supposed to pretend that his retirement is on hold until all of this is cleared up?  That really dragged down what should have been a really good scene.
