Overview
The only thing worse than being the assistant to a high-maintenance movie star who doesn't take you seriously? Finding out he's smitten with your mom.
I can’t remember the last time that I saw a movie that was as much of a mixed bag as this one. At different times it was both excellent and terrible. Sometimes I thought that there was a much better movie in there, and other times I was not so sure. For whatever reason, the story was told from the perspective of the daughter. This is a problem because the better story line (and quite frankly, the better parts of the movie) involved the characters played by Kidman and Effron (and indirectly, Kathy Bates). We all knew what the resolution was going to be, yet we were made to suffer through an entire movie of watching Joey King’s character complaining endlessly. I feel bad for Ms. King – this was a thankless role. You would be advised to watch The Idea of You instead of this movie.
