Overview
Biblical archaeologist Don Verdean is hired by a local church pastor to find faith-promoting relics in the Holy Land. But after a fruitless expedition he is forced to get creative in this comedy of faith and fraud.
I don’t know anything about the director that made this movie, but I do know and love several actors that starred in this movie. All I can say is…. wow. I can’t remember the last time such an unnecessary movie was made. How can you take the great comedic actor Sam Rockwell and completely neuter him? The movie came alive for a bit when Clement became a central character in the movie, but even that got old by the end. It tried to be funny, but wasn’t. It tried to be satirical and it failed at that. It ended up being just an amateurish mesh. The only positive thing that you can say about this movie is that it may have been part of what inspired McBride to create Righteous Gemstones. But this movie? A steaming pile of dung.
