I thought that I had come to a good place with Wes Anderson.   I tend to favor his earlier works, although I didn’t like many of the movies that others adored.   When watching Asteroid City, I thought that I had come to a place where I could appreciate his works:  the viewer needs to accept this world-building style, and then not thinking too much about it.   But this movie?  I have reviewed nearly 1800 movies as of this writing, and this was the first time that I actually forgot that I was watching a movie.  I started looking around the room, looking at my watch, and then looking back up at the screen before starting the cycle all over again.   I hate to use the cliched “style over substance”, but sometimes the shoe fits.  It feels like the movie version of Seinfeld – every scene was just a slightly different version of previous scenes.  The same characters and scenes, over and over and over.
