Overview

In this uplifting and emotionally charged comedy, inspired by a real road trip, June Stevenson drags her estranged sisters up the Pacific Coast to make amends with their difficult father. Along the way, she distracts herself with picturesque landmarks, craft breweries, and picturesque men in craft breweries, but ultimately, she must face the fact that there’s more to her family’s fractures than she thought.

Wow!  I did not see that movie coming.  What looks like a darkish comedy about a road trip turns into so much more.  The movie deftly shifts between comedy and drama, often in the same scene.  It never takes itself too seriously, but there is absolutely a serious movie in there.  While the movie centers around the lead (and is very loosely based on a real life situation that she encountered), it very much opens itself up towards the end as the lens it put on all of the women.  It did such a wonderful job at putting so many themes on display….. that can’t be easy to do.  I was very impressed by the film.
