This film is one of the few films that should be used as a litmus test to see if one appreciates good movies.  My god, this film is amazing.   First, the performances.  Janney might be the most under-appreciated actress out there.  It is a shame that she had to waste so many years on dopey sitcoms.   Towards the end of the film, the other lead gets to spread his wings and really show some range.   And as luck would have it, the script gives the two leads plenty of meat on the proverbial bone.   There are layers upon layers, and I found myself thinking about the film long after it had finished.   I also found myself doing something that I rarely do:  I rooted for an outcome.  Of course, the film didn’t give me that outcome, and it was better for it.  The film was just so raw and powerful (and often very funny) – I actually found myself rooting for a Hallmark ending, and that is something that I never do (and thankfully, it had the perfect ending).  I can’t wait to watch it again.
