Overview
A long lost music producer finds a singer-songwriter right about the moment he has given up all hope on life.
This film stayed with me longer than it had any right to do so. In a way it reminded me of both Once and Love, Actually. It was sweet and funny and charming and it made me smile. The characters were endearing and the music was actually pretty good (side note: listen to the soundtrack after watching the film and you’ll get a surprising perspective). Sometimes a movie feels good so you go with it. In that sense I would compare it to similar favorites from the past such as The Way Way Back and Beginners . We talked about the film for days after seeing it.
I would say two minutes into the film I could tell this was going to be special. It may not be Citizen Kane but sometimes a film that makes you smile and takes your breath away does not need to be anything more than what it is.
