Overview

"Mad" Mary McArdle returns to Drogheda after a short spell in prison for something she'd rather forget. Back home, everything and everyone has changed. Her best friend, Charlene, is about to get married and Mary is maid of honor. When Charlene refuses Mary a 'plus one' on the grounds that she probably couldn't find a date, Mary becomes determined to prove her wrong.

We’ve seen various versions of this movie before:  a person in young adulthood returns home only to realize that maybe they don’t fit in anymore (if they ever did).  And then there is the obligatory journey to discover who you are and where you belong.  That said, this movie navigated all of this well and at 82 minutes did not overstay its welcome.  The two leads are excellent – I found myself rooting for them and that’s something I rarely do while watching a movie.  Finally, the last couple of scenes are perfect.
