Overview
Del Shores' follow-up to "Sordid Lives" revisits Winters, Texas for a showdown between the gradually liberalizing locals and the new fundamentalist preacher in the wake of the Supreme Court's marriage equality decision.
While I am always down for a movie that exposes the hypocrisy behind religious belief, large stretches of this movie were painful. Why on Earth did this movie need to be 109 minutes long? In several of the opening scenes there were long stretches of dialog that gave the viewer way more background than we could have possibly needed. The scenes with Bonnie Bedelia were often decent but most scenes with the secondary characters were downright painful.
