I love when a movie sneaks up on me, like this one did.  On the surface the movie is fairly simple and not unlike movies that we’ve seen before.  When a detail about one of the main characters is revealed, it sure felt like the movie was going to go down a familiar path.   It didn’t.  The movie is first and foremost about friendship, and this is driven home repeatedly toward the end of the movie.  This doesn’t work without the strong and nuanced performances of the two leads.  I enjoyed the nuances but I can see how others might not.
