Overview
At a remote lake house in the Adirondack Mountains, a couple entertains an out-of-town guest looking for inspiration in her filmmaking. The group quickly falls into a calculated game of desire, manipulation, and jealousy, unaware of how dangerously intertwined their lives will soon become.
Another classic example of the parts being better than whole. I wanted to love this movie but I just couldn’t get there. Sure, the acting is fantastic and Aubrey Plaza is a revelation (I have been a fan going back to Safety Not Guaranteed). The first half was very good and during the first few minutes of the second part of the movie it looked like it was on an even better trajectory. But the it just started to meander. I loved the idea of the two different story lines going on at the same time but it seemed as if the director didn’t know how to bring it home. There was a better movie in there, I think.
