I am in the minority that was baffled by the appeal of this movie to so many.  In my opinion there just wasn’t a central conflict that could carry the movie and I think that is why there was so much filler.  The conflict is just too minor.  I get that Capote regretted his actions but it isn’t like he did something egregious like in Atonement.  Also, I am a huge fan of Hoffman but there was just something so distracting about his portrayal of Capote.  Maybe he nailed it, I don’t know.  People have said that the movie is much better if you read the book – I did not.
