Overview
In a comedic shakeup of every cheesy Christmas movie, a big city journalist goes to a small town for the holidays and finds herself in an unlikely romance with the owner of a struggling hot cocoa shop.
The setup is good: the movie is very much like an “Airplane” style satire of holiday movies. Think about it – there are scores of holiday movie scenes that can be parodied. That alone probably gets you 20 – 30 minutes of movie. However, that’s only a quarter of a movie. The movie uses heavy use of the satire at the beginning before running out of gags towards the end. Every now and then you will laugh a little as you recognize a scene from Love Actually or any number of Hallmark movies but the gags usually aren’t that funny. As you probably guess the movie slowly declines into a complete mess by the end (the scenes with the bad guys are particularly amateurish and painful to watch). The lead acted her arse off but in the end she had very little to work with.
