There is something so freeing about watching a movie that is directed by someone that is well outside of traditional Hollywood directors.  For this reason I tend to seek out independent movies, but I am always reminded me that some of the best movies come out of Asia.   This movie is an absolute gem for people like me.  As with most good movies, you will get more enjoyment out of this movie if you put in a little thought and effort to peel off the layers.  Its the kind of film that you can get inside and roll around in it.  I spent days reading about the various layers and began to appreciate it in ways that I hadn’t even thought of.  Just to be clear, it isn’t because the movie was inaccessible (e.g. there wasn’t a “what the hell did I just watch” moment, like you get with a movie like Tenet).  Actually, quite the opposite – the movie stands up quite while when watched at any level.  I loved it.
