Overview
A cybersecurity expert becomes a whistleblower after uncovering secrets about aliens, putting him on the run from a corporation. Meanwhile, a meteorologist experiencing strange phenomena joins forces with him to prove there's life beyond our understanding.
I have had a bit of a weird experience with this film. Is it extremely entertaining? Hell yeah! I have always loved Emily Blunt, but I had no idea that she had these kinds of chops. Same with Colin Firth. My problem is that the more I thought about the movie, the more problematic it became. Part of the problem is that I didn’t know how to watch the movie. Was it about the philosophical question about the right that the public has to know the truth? I also thought (hoped) that the movie was really a commentary on how we have treated immigrants (the “other” kind of alien). But alas, the film ultimately boiled down to a long chase scene and was not metaphorical. I still really enjoyed the film – it just wasn’t quite the classic that I think it could have been.
