Overview
Weekend trips, office parties, late night conversations, drinking on the job, marriage pressure, biological clocks, holding eye contact a second too long… you know what makes the line between “friends” and “more than friends” really blurry? Beer.
It’s hard to mine something new when it comes to movies about the blurred lines between friendships and relationships and this movie certainly didn’t find any new ground. I think the setup is good enough – two co-workers have a little thing for each other and then when they go on a couples weekend things get complicated. There is a slow burn to the movie and the drama is unspoken, which is good. The problem is what is actually spoken. You could watch this movie on fast-forward with the sound off and still get the movie and that’s not a compliment. It was like we were just following these people around through their mundane lives while we waited for a scene where the story is moved forward. Also, it is billed as a comedy and it is certainly a drama. It gets a few more points for the ending.
