A newly engaged and spoiled hotel heiress finds herself in the care of a handsome, blue-collar lodge owner and his precocious daughter after getting total amnesia in a skiing accident.
While modern christmas movies are not something that find my way to my screen I do watch one or two a year so I do understand how completely formulaic these movies are. I get that we are all watching them for the holiday cheese. If you are grading these movies you are doing so on a Hallmark scale. That said, this movie probably works better as “it is so bad that it is good”. I can’t tell you how many times I rolled my eyes at lines lifted directly from other movies (it borrows heavily from Overboard). At one point I laughed out loud when the the Mother-in-law made a statement like “if there was only some way that we could do x and y” – if you closed your eyes you could imagine that line coming from a movie that spoofed other movies (like Naked Gun). Maybe they were winking at us, I don’t know.
