Overview
The true story of Oscar, a 22-year-old Bay Area resident, who crosses paths with friends, enemies, family, and strangers on the last day of 2008.
While watching this film was undoubtedly a very emotional experience, I once again can’t help but to be bothered by the deviance from the facts. Large parts of the end of the movie are either disputed or unknown. Whole scenes in the film were either made up or actually happened to other people in the family. In a weird kind of way this film reminds me of the trickery that is used in the tv show Ghost Hunters . In that show the hosts pretend to question some facts of their case so that they can gain some kind of credibility with the audience. In this movie the lead character has some kind of unflattering details revealed about his life so that we can be more sympathetic towards him later. In my eyes that really diminishes the potential power of the film.
