When a self-destructive teenager is suspended from school and asked to look after his feisty alcoholic grandmother as a punishment, the crazy time they spend together turns his life around.
We have seen parts or even much of this movie many times before. The fact that they went down a well-travelled path and still made something unique is nothing short of extraordinary. Much of the credit belongs to Rampling, who is an absolute force in this movie. When she is on screen, she dominates the scene even if she says very little. It very much reminded me Maggie Smith’s performance in Lady in the Van. I was worried that the movie may have gone five minutes too long, but they got the ending right as well. This is an excellent movie.
