Does this movie tell the events of Michael’s early life? Yes, it dutifully goes through them, with a heavy focus on his relationship with his father. Unfortunately, the events aren’t always that interesting, especially when it seems like the whole movie kept coming back to his father. I get that it was a big part of his story, but the man was so much more. Watching this movie made me appreciate A Complete Unknown so much more because of that movie’s ability to use the music to tell the story. I thought that part was missing for much of this movie until it was finally put front and center in the final scenes. That said, the acting and musical performances are excellent.

Does this movie tell the events of Michael’s early life? Yes, it dutifully goes through them, with a heavy focus on his relationship with his father.
