Overview
A bittersweet story about coming of age in the shadow of mental illness.
The good news about this movie is that it is extremely well-acted. The two leads are just superb. The bad news about this movie is that – from an entertainment perspective – the movie is very dull. And it is a shame that we have to judge a movie about mental illness (a very well-done movie!) but in the end the best it could really hope for was being a very good after-school special. I’ve seen a few fresh takes on this genre (The Father comes to mind) but most of the time they feel exactly like this movie.
