Overview
Rejected after a marriage proposal, Alex finds himself alone on a journey from Los Angeles to Melbourne, Australia, on what was supposed to be a happy vacation with his new fiancée. Stuck in a mild state of shock, Alex crosses paths with Ronnie - a woman on an adventure of her own - and together they take a grand road trip across Australia's Nullarbor Plain, on their way to Perth.
I have long had a theory that when making a road trip movie a few things are given to you right out of the box. For example, there are only two characters in the movie so you really don’t need a ton of conflict or conversation. And in this move you don’t get much of either. Two characters are brought together and don’t seem to have much chemistry or attraction. They are both broken and desperate and apparently that’s enough. On the plus side, it’s a beautiful movie to look at.
