Overview
Martin is a neurotic web designer taking baby steps out of the isolation of his one-room apartment and his virtual reality. Mariana is an artist fresh out of a a long relationship. They are perfect for each other, live on the same street, in opposite buildings, but they never meet. Can the movement of a modern city of three million people bring them together?
This was an interesting little movie. I loved the basic feel of the movie – there are two different storylines that feature a person that is a loner in a big city. Despite the fact that the person has been unlucky in love and unlucky in life there is still a flicker of hope that each carries around. The stories are well-framed and you can definitely feel a Woody Allen-type narration in the beginning (and of course Manhattan is actually shown in the background of one scene). I am never one to root for characters or outcomes but you couldn’t help but feel sympathy for the leads so in that sense the movie is a joy to watch. Given the way the storylines were unfolding I suspected a different ending. After mulling it over the result of the storyline was never the point.
