Overview
Justin Quayle is a low-level British diplomat who has always gone about his work very quietly, not causing any problems. But after his radical wife Tessa is killed he becomes determined to find out why, thrusting himself into the middle of a very dangerous conspiracy.
I think the most interesting part of this movie is the change in what the gardener was digging for. At first he was suspicious about who is wife was and then later it morphed into something completely different. We’ve seen countless cautionary tales about the dangers of government getting in bed with business in order to screw over good people while filling their pockets – this is one of the better entries into this area that I can remember. Besides the acting of Fiennes and Weisz the other thing that stood out was the excellent resolution to the story.
