Overview
To take down South Boston's Irish Mafia, the police send in one of their own to infiltrate the underworld, not realizing the syndicate has done likewise. While an undercover cop curries favor with the mob kingpin, a career criminal rises through the police ranks. But both sides soon discover there's a mole among them.
This movie wasn’t near what it could have been with this cast and an excellent script. I’m a fan of Mark Wahlberg but he was positively outclassed in this movie And what was up with the hair? Anyway, this is another example of a movie that lost its way in the second half after a strong first half. It is amazing that Scorsese won awards for this movie and not five or six others. Still, worth a look.
