Overview
When a couple decides to adopt a stray cat their perspective on life changes radically, literally altering the course of time and space and testing their faith in each other and themselves.
In a lot of ways the film reminds me of the Barenaked Ladies song “Pinch Me”. We meet a couple who are chronically stuck in neutral and take the smallest excuse to not go forward. Even when change comes along their movement is sideways and not necessarily forward or backward.
My favorite part of this film is the way that Miranda July tells the story. While you get a real sense for her sense for performance art she still keeps the story accessible for those that might not have an appreciation for “artsy” films. The thing with the cat is a little different but I think it definitely served a purpose.
