The Hitman's Bodyguard
Everyone's out to get them... If they don't kill each other first.
Overview
The world’s top bodyguard gets a new client, a hitman who must testify at the International Court of Justice. They must put their differences aside and work together to make it to the trial on time.
How could they mess this up? This movie has a decent plot and several fantastic comedic actors. The answer? It is actually pretty simple.
1). This is a buddy comedy, which means that the buddies have to have fun and interesting banter. In this film, some of the worst dialog of the movie comes when Reynolds and Jackson are alone in a car. Too often the conversation devolves into the two swearing at each other. With Jackson’s dialog in particular, “mf” seems to be a bit of a crutch.
2). The action scenes. I get that these kinds of movies are to be taken with a giant truckload of salt, but this film had action scenes that were so preposterous that it could make Argylle blush. For example, Reynolds being tossed through the windshield only to do a summersault and land on his feet.
Its too bad because this could have been a really good action movie.
