Bandslam

I came across this film on a site that made a list of underrated indies and thought I would give it a chance.  Through the early parts of the movie it felt like I was watching a film that was part Heathers, School of Rock and American Idol.  Few things make my eyes roll more than hearing dialogue in movies spoken by high schoolers that no high schooler in the history of the world would have ever said.   While the film was still enjoyable at this point I wasn’t expecting much.  As the film went on something wonderful happened – the pure charm of the film just takes over.  Don’t get me wrong – this film was still a mess in a lot of ways but it is a beautiful mess.  I hope that you watch it with an open mind and heart and don’t fight it.
